Lincoln Ice Adventure brings sculptures, carollers, and Christmas magic

This Christmas season will see the arrival of Lincoln Ice Adventure—a new festive experience inspired by last year’s popular Lincoln Ice Trail.

While keeping the much-loved ice sculptures, this year’s event adds a family-friendly adventure, transforming the city into a magical winter wonderland for all ages.

Organised by the City of Lincoln Council’s Events in Lincoln team, the event will take place on 7 and 8 December 2024, from 11am to 5pm each day.

This year’s event promises an even more enchanting experience, featuring 16 ice sculptures, intricately designed by Ice Box, displayed across the city’s iconic locations, perfect for visitors of all ages.

As you explore the festive trail, stop by local shops for some holiday shopping and warm up with seasonal treats from businesses along the route, soaking up the Christmas atmosphere.

The sculptures will be placed in key locations, including Lincoln Cornhill, Steep Hill, and Lincoln Cathedral, where the picturesque backdrop of Christmas in Lincoln adds to the festive magic.

Sculpture locations include:

Lincoln Transport Hub – Finger Post
Lower High Street – Star Wreath
Cornhill Square – Viking (sponsored by Thor’s Tipi)
Sincil Street – Turtle (sponsored by Turtle Bay)
City Square – Snow Globe
Highbridge – Post Box
Outside Lincoln Guildhall – Nutcracker

This year, a number of local businesses have sponsored the sculptures, including Thor’s Tipi, Turtle Bay, the White Hart Hotel, Lincoln Castle and Taylor Lindsey. A live ice-carving demonstration of the infamous Lincoln Imp will also be taking place on both days to add to the excitement.

In addition to the sculptures, the event will feature Christmas carollers, a mulled wine stall, and a host of festive activities across the weekends leading up to Christmas.

At this year’s event, members of the public will also have the chance to submit a design to be carved in ice and to feature in the 2025 Lincoln Ice Adventure event. Anyone who wishes to submit a design can do so by posting their drawing in the Post box ice sculpture on Highbridge.
