Louth: Arrest after driver fails to stop during high-speed police pursuit

The car was pursued along the A16 towards Holton-le-Clay and into a housing estate in Grimsby.

A 34-year-old driver was arrested last night after failing to stop for police.

A white BMW was first seen in the Louth area just after 10.20pm.

Police said:

‘It came to the attention of an officer from our Roads Policing Unit due to the speed at which the vehicle was travelling and the manner of its driving.

‘The car was pursued along the A16 towards Holton-le-Clay and into a housing estate in Grimsby.

‘The driver continued even after crashing into a lamppost at the junction of Worcester Avenue and Carnforth Crescent. Despite damage to the front of the vehicle, the driver carried on before finally stopping and fleeing on foot along Carnforth Crescent in Grimsby.

‘A short time later, he was arrested by our officers for dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving while unfit. He remains in custody.’
